Erinnerung
By Mary
I remember…
Last minute
Numbers given
Unexpected friendship
You’ll never understand…
Raw sadness
Pounding hearts
Joyful laughs
I remember…
Happiness growing
in my
puzzled heart
You’ll never understand…
Unknown love
Spreading across
Our minds
I remember…
Sister love
So strong
So loving
I’ll only understand…
Always there
Never alone
Together forever
A friendship to last a lifetime
Frigid Winter
By Mary
Ice glistens like lace on the bare brown branches of towering trees, but no leaves dance in the warmth of a summer breeze.
Pure white snow blankets the once colorful ground, but no green grass sways
around.
Chilly air seems to darken the landscape in a gray haze, no longer brightened
by the sun’s golden rays.
No happiness.
No laughter.
No joy.
No smiles.
Dark clouds shroud the now hidden skies, no color, no love, no butterflies.
The stress of winter takes over the land, the relief of summer no longer
hand-in-hand.
I’ve Been Waiting
By Mary
Laying here as you’ve walked by without noticing me.
I move everyday, moving in the wind, scattered across the ground, but never picked up.
I’m alone, waiting patiently for a watchful eye to catch sight of my unsightly appearance and take me to the place I belong.
No one ever does anymore. I’m still alone, growing bigger as time goes on.
Look around.
Let’s see.
How you’ve damaged your
world.
Autumn
By Mary
When the leaves turn colors and gray clouds scatter the pale blue sky, I sit under deciduous trees and let the leaves fall around me, peaceful haze falling over my ever so busy mind.
When the leaves turn colors and the mornings are blanketed with a glistening frost, I sit in my house with a steaming mug of coffee and let the hours go by, the grandfather clock chiming absently in the background.
When the leaves turn colors and the first snow falls, silence covers the land like a quilt, the only sound is the whistle of wind through the towering pine trees.
When the leaves turn colors, I sit back and reflect on the busy year, taking in the silent peace nature has to offer as winter engulfs the land in a white, silvery haze.
Life seems to pause for the next few months, resuming in the relieving warmth of spring.
